 Affluent Society and Job Availability Affluence, the abundance of material goods, wealth, and property. When outsiders view the United States they are lead to think that we possess all of these. However, many citizens of the US just make enough to live. Sure there is a small percentage of the population has measurable wealth but, this does not make our society as affluent as often perceived. Along with the small bit of affluence comes the perception of life in the States being extremely grand and prosperous when it is not so for all who live there. Job availability has always been a struggle for some however, some believe that the government should provide them jobs. Our government only has a measured amount of responsibility to us and our employment opportunities, this is only because they have a responsibility to their economy. Marx, Carnegie, and Gates oh my!

 Marx, Carnegie, and Gates oh my! Marx     Karl Marx wrote The Communist Manifesto and in this work, he references the bourgeoise which in this case references the people of wealth in the city that he believed suppressed the working class, preventing them to make as much money as they should be able to. He also references the proletariats which are the working class that works to live essentially.     With the expansion of the world goods market, national identity comes into question. As trade expanded communism became less accepted because large companies wanted to keep their wealth. So, the countries that decided to adopt it were not viewed very well by other countries.      Marx really had high hopes for all of what he thought communism would provide the proletariats. He thought that if they were able to get rid of capitalism then they would be able to keep more of their profits and in turn stabilizing out the economy.  Carnegie and Gates       Carnegie wanted to give away his money
